The Selinda Canoe Trail is about taking oneself out of the 'hustle and bustle' of today's world. All of our equipment and provisions will be carried by canoe; therefore, each fly camp is rustic in nature, but by no means too basic for comfort.

CAMP DESCRIPTION
On arrival in camp, the team will set up each dome tent. The dome tents are both practical as well as comfortable and safe. The zipper entry opens wide for easy access and maneuverability as well as good air flow. Inside, there will be two thick foam bedrolls (on the ground) with quality linen and towels. Ablution facilities consist of bucket showers (hot water supplied in the evenings) and 'long drop' lavatories with a raised seat. Each is surrounded by a canvas tent and placed at a distance to provide privacy.

A set of chairs offers a place to relax by the fire while watching the chef craft a meal on open fire. The cuisine is hearty, fresh and well-prepared.

LAUNDRY
Laundry is not available, unless done by the traveler.

ELECTRICITY
Electricity is not available. A small number of hurricane lanterns are available around camp for light. A powerful flashlight is required.

EQUIPMENT
18-foot Canadian canoes with two or three cushioned seats (with backs). Single paddles and life jackets are supplied. Our guide will carry a rifle for safety while canoeing and walking.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
Most importantly, our guides are of the most experienced caliber. They are extremely well-versed in the nuances of safety as it pertains to water and land activities.

Full medical coverage (including emergency evacuation and repatriation) is required for participation in the Selinda Canoe Trail. Our team carries a comprehensive medical bag, and maintains radio communications with our base station in the event of an emergency.

Beer, wine, and a limited selection of soft drinks are supplied. Water is filtered directly from the Selinda Spillway, and is completely safe to drink. Special requests for bottled water, champagne and premium liquors can be supplied for additional cost and should be arranged well in advance. Travelers are free to bring their own drinks of any variety - there is no corkage fee.

It is imperative that we are informed in advance of a traveler's medical conditions or allergies. All dietary requirements are catered for if we are notified in advance.

PACKING LIST
Luggage space is limited and restricted only to the space available among the canoes. If a traveler arrives with a suitcase and/or a large bag, which can not be accommodated, we will supply a small soft day pack for essentials. The remaining luggage must be left behind and will be returned at the end of the Trail.

OUR FOOTPRINT
Selinda Reserve is a place of peace, where tranquility replaces the chaos of the modern world. It is also home to much wildlife, all of which is cautious of our presence. It is our goal to limit our impact on the environment, to walk quietly and softly on the Earth, and that includes the noise and light pollution we generate as well as the more obvious by bi-products of our society. We are guests in this space. In limiting pollution, the wildlife is comfortable and often comes through camp. This is a gift.

Selinda Canoe Trail is among the least consumptive safaris on offer.
